However we need to pay more attention to rainwater because this resource, so essential to all live on earth, is finite. We should all be conscious of the water we use and waste, and use it wisely and efficiently. One strategy to maximize water efficiency is rainwater harvesting. Rather than letting the water simply run off and go to waste, rainwater harvesting collects, stores and makes the water available for multiple functions in the garden and home. Rainwater harvesting can have many positive effects, like reducing your water bills; easing the pressure on municipal water systems; and ensuring a supply of water during emergencies.
If you want to use rainwater in your home, you may need to invest in additional filtration and pumping systems, but for use in the garden, garage, or around the yard, the set-up is usually much simpler. How to prepare your area for a raised bed garden.
Please clear any debris from the area where we will be installing your garden. The area does not need the grass removed; however, it should be leveled if you want the garden to be level. We will also need access to water. Please have a hose handy.
Is Midori Permatech organic?
Our agricultural techniques are based strictly upon organic methods, however, since it would be extremely difficult to certify every garden we build, we do not have an organic certification.
How long is the growing season?
Although this varies greatly, the growing season in Atlantic Canada usually starts in early June and ends in October. With cold frames and/or greenhouses, one can easily extend this quite substantially. If you choose the correct crops, year-round gardening is even possible.
